There were some justifiable fears the fourth instalment of the Die Hard series might prove a letdown. After all, Bruce Willis IS 52 years old, and director Len Wiseman (Underworld) is a rookie in this genre.

Well, the pair of them blow us critics away with a pounding nonstop action flick that has reinvigorated the series.

Willis is teriffic as wisecracking, tough-as-nails detective John McLane, who gets his ass kicked mightily, but still manages to emerge triumphant.

McClane is assigned to bring in a young computer nerd (Justin Long) for questioning about a plot to paralyse U.S. government compupter systems. The kid has unwittingly helped the conspirators by doing some freelance work for them. However, when a mysterious team of assassins tries to kill his prisoner - and McClane - it becomes obvious the kid knows something the conspirators want to keep quiet.

It's nonstop action as McClane tries to keep himself and the kid alive while law enforcement, transport and power computer system crash all around them, causing chaos and panic.

The final straw comes when the conspiracy leader (Timothy Olyphant) takes McClane's daughter prisoner. Doesn't he know who he's messing with?

With eye-popping action stunts, ferocious gun battles and a smart script, Live Free Or Die Hard delivers the goods and then some. The 2-disc edition has a dozen extra features.
